clockwork uConsole - Unboxing and build. Cyberdeck Retro Workstation!
I totally forgot that I ordered this. Its a really cool device and one of the few general computing devices that you can carry around. Plugged into a monitor , keyboard and mouse (Bluetooth) makes for a convincing linux rig.
Pretty good for retro gaming as well, comes with DOSBOX and other emulators pre installed.
I think small form factor PCS but with the addition of onboard power, screen, keyboard and pointing devices makes them all kinds of next level useful!

Man, I would love to see this with Meshtastic. that would be really slick
That little black clip is just for the top connector for pick and place vacuum to grab during assembly.
Thanks for clearing this up! So I can just fling it into the bin now!
33:10 I'm assuming the issue is that resolution is 720x1280 (9:16), not 1280x720 (16:9). So you get a vertical picture, which makes sense.
I think you are correct! It feels like the sort of issue you used to get with Linux builds 20 years ago. I need to check if they have an updated repo for this gadget. Maybe in the driver that panel is actually is a vertical panel and they are using it horizontally 🤔
They could have applied the "CLOCKWORK" name evenly, that would annoy me probably far more than other people, but I really can't stand seeing crooked labels, or lettering :\
@@Giitzerland I know what you mean, I spotted that right away as well!! Arghhh
That's interesting.
It's easy to forget you ordered something when they say 90 delivery, but it's really over 7 months. 😂 ClockworkPi is a trash company.
I like it, it ticks all the boxes for me except I would want a larger ~4:3 screen. Look up HBreak 5.2 for DOS, you can bust out of pretty much everything using ctrl-alt-c. It uses very little memory. While you're at it, grab launchbox for dos too.
Genuinely looking for something like this, a 'real fantasy console', but their website is atrocious and doesn't really explain what any of their products are.
I can answer this, raspberry pis in mobile form factors, that's pretty much it
It looks like the C.H.I.P. thing that came out before the Raspberry Pi had WiFi.
CHIP was a lot smaller and lighter. I always wanted one, they looked pretty cool. Always shown hand in hand rubbing pico-8
@@backofficeshow I still have 3 boards but I never got the keyboard part. By the time I saved up for one they had belly flopped and went out of business.

You are not supposed to sharpen a letter opener anyways. My letter opener is shaped like a US Civil War Sword.
18650 batteries as you said are often used for vapes. Vapeclub is a decently reputable online vape store that'll sell you decent 18650 batteries, but I'm sure other online vape stores will be good too. I only recommend Vapeclub because I used to vape & they were always good.
Pretty sweet that m8
I ordered one of these about a year back, got it a few months back. Really nifty but I struggled to get youtube running at a reasonable speed, need to look into. I don't think it was a kickstarter, pre-order only. There are some 3rd party expansion cards that add more USB ports/etc.
@@iamboody check how the overclocking guides. I think you can give a healthy boost to it for not much cost in the way of heat
@@backofficeshow Ta, I had a brief look and didn't help much but I need to look again. One thing for anyone considering picking one of these up, check the website to see if they are shipping quicker now. My pre-order was seriously delayed and a few months back shipping wasn't by length in queue.
Nice portable Pi. I like the computers people are making from the Framework laptop components. For a second I thought this was what you were making. ruclips.net/video/qzEd50uzdF0/видео.html
The Kaico Dreamcast cable is also problematic. It looks great but on sonic adventure intro, the brightness is up so high you cannot even read the words “presented by” on the Presented by Sega screen. The beach also is too bright. The sand looks like a bright light bulb
Wow i never thougjt of that😊
Uh…. Mine has 4 cables for the screen… is that normal?
motion detector?
Hello is there any possibility to recieve a DVB-T signal? I mean is it possible to watching a TV with this set in your video? If it is, would you tell me how to do it? Thanks!
I think it might be possible by changing the USB driver. I think the chips are in. These were originally for DVB reception. Be able to watch DVD through decoding it it has to be native on the device
Anyone else have problems soldering those little boards? Can't see shit
More of a mod than a hack
I think in the modern IOT world, these things are effectively obsolete. You have smart bulbs and mmWave sensors for a better result and you never have to faff around with mains electricity.
Sometimes you just want a solution. That'll sit and work and work and work and work for a decade or two and not need any apps, internet connections or anything else 🤣
Empfindlichkeit hoch/niedrig = Sensitivity high/low
Ahhhhhh!!! That makes so much sense!! sense-itivity!! 😂😂
@@backofficeshow 😀
Interesting in that they used a relay as opposed to an SCR.
Probably cheaper and simpler in implementation?
@@backofficeshow I much prefer the relay myself, should be more robust than the undersized SCR I typically see. Other issues with SCR's are surge from an incandescent failure often wipes them out and other types of lamps like LED'S and Fluorescents often don't play well with SCR switching characteristics.
Relays for the win! I found more on Amazon, would be interesting to see if they also had relays
@@backofficeshow Yeah, the MOSFET ones go bang in a spectacular way for anything over a few amps.
Achtung
I got once got a solar kit very similar to this one and the only things I kept were the solar panel and motor so I could use them for other things. Also did a similar thing with other science kits where I would purge them for items that I found useful for my other hobbies.
I loved the old ones. Only had to swap it once. The new rebranding, I swapped constant times. Now I have no warranty and conveniently the multifunction button fell off.
Sounds awful. More often than not I am enjoying the extremely cheap in air pods that come from Amazon with their own charging docks. £10 goes a long way there to a solution that actually sounds a lot better than the shokz
@backofficeshow I have something similar but they aren't bone conduction. They do ok for battery life though
These have been out for years. It's a good toy and a nice size. As a sparky, an electric screwdriver is nice. Wihas is amazing but 300$
Do you have a starter replacement post?
Do you still have the instructions from dada? They are no longer trading, and I just want to do some upgrades on a broken quad 33. They used to be freely available on their website, but unfortunately that also doesn’t function. Many thanks.
This video is just an excuse their cameras are extremely slow it takes 21 seconds to load, I've reset my blink module I upgraded my router nothing changes the speed
Is the PCB Green layer a Protection layer what if its a little bit scratch won't go farther than the Large area Been scratch ..some sort ..🎉..?.
It's basically a varnish. I guess it's too protect the board and stop the copper from corrosion
Tip, when you’ve drilled your hole, don’t check for sharp bits and shards with your fingers like you did 😂
They are close and thick from all the checking I do, but I agree, not a job for un seasoned fingers! 😂
Just to mention one thing, the bits aren’t pozi as you said, they are Phillips (ph), other than that good video, 🤙🏼
Oh no, such a rookie mistake 😂
I bought one of these with about 40 bits and came in a proper carry case. Had it about a year and has been rock solid for the price of around £35.
That's great to hear, it does feel like a sturdy bit of kit. Perhaps this is the entry level pack and they do a few variants. I'm not going to grumble as it was a gift, and apart from the bit storage and lack of USB C, very little to complain about.
Since the (SMA->ipex) feeder plays a role in the setup and the monopole antenna is ground plane dependent, use a SMA->ipex adapter attached to S11 port, plug the feeder there and calibrate the VNA at the SMA end of the feeder. Then attach the antenna there to tune it.For 868 Mhz a 1mm enamel copper wire with 9 turns winded in a 3.5mm drill did the job. Also the distance of the first coil from where the sma ground ends is important and it's 9mm
Thank you for all the instructions, but i can hear a hiss can you advise where to put dcdc filter.
You should use a punch and hammer to punch where the hole should be drilled, that way the drill won't slip and drill somewhere else on the board
gonna use mine with my Sprectravox & mic for some low bit goodness
Thank you so much for fast reply! Main problem must be heat, we had a headwave last week with 46 degrees C and since then wipers went off. I'm afraid that used ones here in Cyprus will be same or even worst. Thanks again.
My wipers stopped working, the mechanic told me that the control stalk needs replacement, do you think that i could easily fix this by myself?
Realistically if it's worn out or broken, I would be looking from a replacement from a scrap yard than trying to fix it
Hey everyone! Just a heads-up about working with epoxy resin. You’ve got two types: the two-part epoxy doesn’t need any UV light to set. It’s pretty neat - you mix the resin with a hardener, and they start to solidify all on their own through a chemical reaction. Give it a few hours, and it’ll be all set, no UV light needed. Now, for the one-part resin, that’s where UV light comes into play. If you’re using this kind, you’ll need a decent UV (or sometimes LED) light to get it to cure properly. The little light you might have at home might not cut it, so check the bottle for the recommended wattage. Oh, and about hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) - great job on the pronunciation, by the way - it’s in both types of resin. It helps the final product stay dry, adhere well, and keep its strength once mixed. So, if you’re experimenting at home with two-part resin, remember to mix equal parts of both. No need for a light, but patience is key as it takes a while to cure. On the flip side, if you’re using one-part UV resin, you’ll likely need a 65W light, but the payoff is it cures super fast, like in 30 seconds! I personally find the one-part UV resin a bit easier, especially if you’re just starting out. Plus, you can have fun with any leftovers.
